Those That Got Away (Demo Compilation Album)

Hello Everybody.
We are nearing the completion of our second studio album (That’s what you said the last time, you shower of bums!!) We know, we know. We’re sorry for the delay but it’s due to unforeseen circumstances. But, after hearing pre-mixes of the final tracks, we are extremely excited about how it sounds. We think it’s gonna catch a few of you guys off guard, in a good way. And we will try to have it out as soon as possible.

In the mean time, we’ve got a little something to tide you over. We have released a compilation album of live, demo recording of songs that did not make the cut for our second studio album. The songs are a little rough around the edges with a few little mistakes here and there but, we feel, a certain vibe was captured in these song-writing sessions that we hope you will enjoy. This exclusive, “download only” album will only be available for the limited time of the month of July, so snap it up quick. It is 20 tracks long and is yours for only 5 Euro (it’ll automatically convert it to Pounds, or Yen, or whatever, for you!). You can find our album at http://jadedsun.bandcamp.com

We really enjoyed writing and performing these songs, so hopefully you will enjoy listening to them. We also feel that it is not so much an indication as to what the new album will sound like, it is more an indication as to what the album could’ve sounded like, if we’d've chosen those songs, if ya know what I mean?

So tell all your friends about the compilation album. As soon as our studio album is ready to go, we hope to be back out on the road again and to be gigging in a town near you.  Thank you all, again, for your continued support. Keep updated with all the Jaded Sun news on our Facebook and Twitter and on the official site and feel free to let us know your thoughts on the compilation album. Hope to see you guys soon.
Cheers,
Damo – JS

March ’11 Blog Update

Hi folks.

Just thought I’d give you guys a quick update of what’s happening in the Jaded Sun camp at the moment.

We’re all still working hard in the studio, nearing the end of recording our second album. It’s taking a little longer than expected and the album has taken a few twists and turns along the way but it is all for the benefit of the best album we can put out there. Don’t want to give too much away as to how it sounds right now other than it’s sounding pretty exciting. And (as promised a little while ago!) we can now give you a taster of things to come. Here’s a snippet of a rough mix of one of our new songs “When The Sun Shines” here >> When The Sun Shines (Sample). We will keep you all updated as soon as we’ve any news of possible release dates.

On the gigging front, we will be headlining a “70′s Rock Night” in the MJC in Charmont-sous-Barbuise near Troyes, France on May 21st which will be another massive gig for us. For more info on this, please go to  www.myspace.com/plugnplayband .

In the meantime, don’t forget to pick up a copy of our new Whiskey Drinker EP from our online store at www.jadedsun.com/shop , if you haven’t already. And a massive thanks to everyone for their continued support and getting us up to 2,000+ Facebook fans and 300+ Twitter followers.

Talk t’yiz all again very soon.
Much love,
Damo – JS

October ’10 Blog update.

Hi folks.
Now, I know it has been almost a year since I’ve updated this place with a proper blog update of what’s happening with us, and I can only apologise for that. It’s partly because we’re a little lazy but we have been keeping ourselves very busy, honestly.

In my last newsletter/blog thing, which was last Christmas, I had a few predictions for 2010. Let’s see how I fared – I predicted more 70′s and 80′s bands reuniting, and a stadium world tour for ABBA? Faith No More was as close as I got there. A Netherlands v Spain final in South Africa? Spot on, thank you very much. Didn’t put any money on it unfortunately. And I predicted a grand slam for the Irish rugby team in the 6 nations? Close, we came second. I won’t be starting up my own premium rate psychic tarot phone line any time soon.
As far as my Jaded Sun predictions went – we have just released our “Whiskey Drinker EP”. It’s available online from our store at www.jadedsun.com/shop. We will be launching it in The Workman’s Club, Dublin on Thursday 28th of October. You can see the details for this show in the news bulletin below. The story behind the delay of its release is far too long and complicated for me to go into at this particular time. Let’s just say that the master tracks of our recordings took a nice little holiday to Australia for a while!

Another prediction of mine was the possibility of a new Jaded Sun album in 2010. Well, we are deep in the pre-production stage of making a follow-up to Gypsy Trip. We will be recording the album during November and December, so, technically we will have an album finished by the end of the year but, unless we can find someone who can mix albums and who’ll work for free over the Christmas period, we will all have to wait until the New Year to hear it.
We won’t talk about the rest of my predictions!

2010 also saw the departure of Gavan Murray on drums. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for all he has contributed to Jaded Sun over the past few years and to wish him the very best in everything he does in the future. But the train had to keep rolling so we set out in search of a new drummer. After a lengthy, and at times arduous, trawling of Ireland’s available percussionists, we found the perfect man for the job in Aaron Madden, and we have to admit, things have gelled quite nicely since his arrival.

So the past few months have mainly consisted of the band writing new material in preparation for our second album. There have been a few gigs dotted around the place to test the water with our new material, and also to wet Aaron’s head. But, now the baby killings are over and the songs mountain has been whittled down to 12 brand, spanking new tunes just bursting to get onto your mp3 player and out on stage in a town near you. So, we will try to keep you all posted every step of the way with TwitPics, possible studio video blogs, or vlogs, or whatever, and lots more news of tours and release dates as it happens.

Thanks again for all of your continued support and your patience. We hope you can come along to our “Whiskey Drinker EP” launch in Dublin. If not, we hope you can pick up a copy of the EP from our store. And we hope that you will enjoy the album that we’re working on and we hope to see you all at a gig in a town near you some time very soon.
Much love,
Damo – JS

How’s it going folks!
Just giving you a quick head’s-up of what’s happening for our gig at the Astral Plains Festival in Birr Castle on Saturday the 26th of June.
Jaded Sun are second from Headline (behind Delorentos) on the HMV stage at Astral Plains. We will be on stage from 7.45 to 8.45.
Tickets for the festival are 42Euro (including booking fee of 3Euro) and are available at Ticket Group – http://www.ticketgroup.ie/events/tickets_for_Astral_Plains_Music_Festival_in_Birr_Castle_Birr/155 and will also be available on the day.
The festival kicks off at 11 am, so arrive early and there is a “voluntary” fancy dress theme. Maybe somebody could suggest a theme for Jaded Sun fans? :)
There is camping at the event also, which will cost extra, but a blind eye may be turned if you mention that you’re there to see Jaded Sun! The band will be camping, so everyone is more than welcome to come and party with us for the day and long into the night in our camping area.
For more information about the event, please go to www.astralplains.ie or www.facebook.com/astralplains
We hope to see some of you guys there.
Cheers -JS

2010-01-06-MIMA-2010-vote-now-71138

Hi folks.

You’d swear it was award season or something. We’re looking for your votes again, this time for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards.

This is in the “Most Promising New Artist 2010″ award category.

This is about finding the best original song from an individual or group who is currently not signed to any record label (small independents excluded) or publishing house.

The Top Ten entries that receive the most public votes will go to The Music Industry Panel who will choose the best 5 entries. These Top 5 entries become Round 2 and will return to public voting on 2nd February. The public can then vote for their favourite via online or text voting. The entry that receives the most public votes will be the winner.

Only one vote per entry from a given URL will be counted on a daily basis. You can vote for your favourite artists each day, but only a single vote for each will be counted. There is no benefit to multiple voting, they will not be counted.

Closing date is 28th January.

Please go to - http://meteormusicawards.meteor.ie/competitions/voting/78/ and give us your vote.

I know you’re probably getting messages from everyone about this but please give your vote to Jaded Sun. It’d mean the world to us.

Cheers – JS

Happy Christmas Blog

A great man once said, “So this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over, a new one just begun.”

Well, we’d just like to take this chance to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and to thank everybody who has come to our shows, buy our cd’s, support us in any way and help us out over the last year. It has been a great year for Jaded Sun.

The year included our first ever tour of France during the Spring time, which was fantastic. Now, I’m not going to mention anything about recent sporting events because everywhere in France that we went, the support was amazing, the people were fantastic and always willing to lend a hand. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself!) I’m sure we will return to France in 2010. We also visited Holland during that tour – wonderful and crazy as always. The spring tour finished off in England and Wales with some very memorable shows.

During the summer we locked ourselves away in the Irish countryside for a few weeks concentrating on writing new material, and preparing for forthcoming tours, so we only performed a handful of gigs around Ireland. One highlight of the summer shows was an appearance at the Glasgowbury Music Festival in Draperstown, Northern Ireland.

In September we embarked on our first ever tour of Spain. Another amazing tour, more amazing people and the weather wasn’t too bad either. I hope that we can keep our promise, which so many people demanded, and return to Spain in the New Year. The icing on the cake for that tour was the gig in Pacific Rock, Cergy, France – truly unforgettable.

In October we visited India and in November we performed in Gran Canaria. Even though our unseasonal suntans have long gone, at these shows we got the best receptions we have ever received, and were treated so well, our appreciation is eternal and it will never be forgotten. I think I have spoken about these shows enough in my last tour blog. A few more Irish shows tied the year up in a nice, neat little package.

Now, I’m no Mystic Meg but for 2010 there will be a few certainties, such as, more bands from the 70′s and 80′s doing reunion tours. Another certainty would be Lineker and Hanson and co. with their “Spirit of ’66″ and “This could be our year” carry on during the World Cup whilst Giles and Dunphy n’all will still be saying “that should’ve been us there”. My predictions for 2010 would be – A stadium world tour for ABBA, a Netherlands v Spain final in South Africa, another grand slam for Irish Rugby in the 6 Nations, and Bono becoming the president of Ireland.

But, what will 2010 bring for Jaded Sun? A new 4-track EP? Most definitely. A live concert DVD? Almost certainly. A new album? Quite possibly. More tours. New places. New faces. The future looks bright. As always, we will keep you right up to date with everything that is happening at Jaded Sun HQ right here at jadedsun.com.

So, drink lots of Guinness and Baileys and Irish whiskey and eat lots of chocolate and have a fantastic Christmas and New Year. A gargantuan “Thank You” once again and we will see you soon. I’ll leave you with a few memories from throughout the year.

Keep Rockin’
